How many are too many
This documentary photography project aims to investigate overtourism. Overtourism is an increasingly widespread issue in many major cities around the world. In my hometown, Florence, I witness its effects every day. The city center, once full of residents and local life, is now dominated by BnBs, which have transformed it into a space primarily dedicated to tourists, especially wealthy ones. This change has left many residents with little choice but to move to other neighborhoods.

I created this project in Florence’s city center during the Christmas season, a time when the number of visitors surges. My goal is to present multiple perspectives on the city. From crowded squares to deserted alleys, from anti-tourist sweaters to oversized billboards. I aim to juxtapose Florence’s beauty with the reality of its overexposed and increasingly exclusive urban landscape, inviting reflection on the cost of this transformation.
